We are just days from the start of 2018, which means many of us are thinking about the things to come, from real estate market predictions and economic outlook to trends in architecture and interior design. In the spirit of the season, House Beautiful tapped top designers for their prediction on “what décor trends are going to be huge next year to help you stay ahead of the game.” Below I’ve outlined a few of my favorites:
· Lavender – In a nod to ultra violet, the Pantone 2018 “Color of the Year,” millennial pink will get its own makeover, as lavender will be the new color of favor. The light purple hue will still provide the same soft addition we found with millennial pink, but with a refreshed look.
· Natural Materials – From a beautiful rich wood to bold limestone, natural elements will continue their presence in home design. As interior designer Shawn Henderson says, these materials “will result in a beautiful space with longevity that will stand the test of time.”
· Agate – A texture that has grown in popularity in recent months, particularly in small boutiques, agate will make its move into the mass market in 2018 in collections by larger companies such as Target, and in unexpected forms, such as wallpaper.
· Velvet – The plush texture of velvet was all over high fashion last year, and is anticipated to expand its reach into home furnishings such as accent pillows and furniture in the coming year.
